And in case you're wondering what
venusinthenight and I were blabbing about in the comments, here it is:
About three months after I wrote this journal, racingchick1020 would reveal to me that she is
mistressmandoli and would become my LJ groupie. Now she and Shelly are both moderators of a group I created,
tpirecaps, and I'm scared I'll piss her off by leaving that quote in the new journal. So I'm keeping it here. O_o;
And in case you're wondering what
Oh, God; what are tpiralum08 and racingchick1020 gonna say about her!?! (Yes, TheKid965 banned them from negative comments on people's clothing back in March 2011, but that ban only applies to his recap threads! They could start a new thread or comment on this journal!) She commits the cardinal sin of wearing very short shorts! She also has blonde hair and a red Marines shirt. She bites her tongue on the way down! D:

In other news, what's wrong with short shorts? If you have the body to rock them, you should. :)

I was instead saying that it was a cardinal sin in the eyes of tpiralum08 and racingchick1020 (who, fortunately, doesn't comment on recaps). >:( I've gone through their post histories on the pre-2011 GSN forums (the "GSN Buzz") and some of their posts on the current GSN forums, and I've gathered from their posts that they want TPIR to have some sort of formal or semi-formal dress code.
Here's a good example, with another user claiming that contestants should outright wear formal attire like back in the Bill Cullen days.
I think they're all full of shit. And apparently, so does TheKid965, given his "Public Notice from TPIRecap Towers", which banned tpiralum08's comments on contestant dress. The fact that there's no formal dress code on TPIR is one of the very reasons why I like the show. The contestants come off as somewhat friendly and can relate to me because they look like me! The contestants on Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, on the other hand, come off as stiff and unfriendly because of the dress code on those shows. Also, Let's Make a Deal was, in the eyes of many fans, very boring until contestants started wearing costumes.
Moral of the story: Dress codes limit life.
And contestants dressing in ways that would piss tpiralum08 off is nothing new. Even though he claims it is, I'm pretty sure you've heard of Yolanda Bowsley and her famous tube top! xD

I don't think Mandy (racingchick) wants formal or semi-formal dress at TPIR; she's just not into the female contestants looking overtly sexy (maybe she thinks they'd upstage the models or something?). I know she practically lives in t-shirts (or sweatshirts) and jeans (or longer shorts), and she'd be fine with that on TPIR. As for Keith (tpiralum08), he's had a superiority complex long time, ever since he joined the GSN boards and started commenting on recaps. He's been banished to my "ignore list".
I think Jeopardy! and Millionaire almost command a more formal dress, given how serious the shows tend to be (even if most of the college contestants wear their school's sweatshirts during the College Tournament, they're still wearing trousers or skirts on bottom!). In a way, ditto DoND when it was on (and Keith thinks some of the TPIR contestants are annoying?! They got NOTHING on some of the DoND ones, I say! But I digress.). I'd like to see WOF loosen up some in that regard, as well as Feud. On both shows, you're mostly seen from the waist up; it shouldn't matter much what you wear on the lower half. (Actually, on J!, contestants are seen primarily from the chest up, too. Still...) And yeah; LMAD was much better once people started wearing costumes; it became one of the defining things about the show!
And yep, I've seen Yolanda "giving her all" for Bob, as Johnny O famously noted. *nods* If that happened now, people *cough*Keith*cough* would be like, "ZOMGSCANDALOUSWTF?!?!?!?!!?!??!"
